DPP Backup · independent infrastructure

Your DPP is already running. We protect what must remain available.

DPP Backup captures digital product passports from your existing system and keeps a separate, traceable copy ready – without changing platforms or migrating.

Recovery ready

v.24v.25v.26

No system change

Your DPP platform remains authoritative.

Separate backup

An independent copy reduces dependencies.

Traceable baseline

Versions, timestamps and integrity stay visible.

DPP availability does not end at go-live

A QR code is only as reliable as the product passport behind it.

Product passports need to remain available and traceable for a long time. Provider changes, technical failures or service closure should not become a blind spot.

Dependency

The only readable baseline sits with the primary provider.

!

Lost context

Files alone do not preserve versions or relationships.

Recovery without a plan

An export is not the same as a tested restart.

Connect, do not rebuild

A second, controlled data path for your DPP.

DPP Backup complements the existing architecture. Data is ingested, validated, versioned and retained for a defined recovery case.

    Controlled delivery and export

DPP-specific, not generic

More than a folder of export files.

The product passport context is protected – not merely a loose collection of files.

Synchronisation

Automated ingestion through documented interfaces.

Versions

Changes remain traceable over time.

Integrity

Checksums and timestamps expose alterations.

Documents & evidence

Linked evidence stays with the correct product baseline.

Rights & access

Public, protected and internal layers remain separate.

Monitoring

Sync status, errors and recovery readiness are monitored.

The product passport remains understandable as a whole

Data, identity and history belong together.

A reliable DPP backup preserves both content and the relationships that make it usable in product context.

For manufacturers and DPP providers

Managed backup or white-label infrastructure.

Manufacturers protect existing product passports. Platform providers and integrators embed the same infrastructure as a technical service in their own offering.

For companies

Connect existing DPPs, define backup scope and establish the recovery process.

For platform providers

Multi-tenant backup via API, with your own interface and customer relationship.

European framework

Availability and backup become part of DPP responsibility.

Article 10(4) of the ESPR provides for a backup copy through a DPP service provider for products requiring a DPP. Article 11 addresses availability, integrity and continuity, among other aspects. Technical provider requirements continue to be specified at EU level.

Frequently asked questions

DPP Backup, clearly explained.

What is a DPP backup?

A DPP backup is a separate copy of existing digital product passports. It preserves structured data, documents, versions and relevant relationships for availability and recovery.

Does DPP Backup replace our current DPP platform?

No. The primary system remains authoritative. DPP Backup complements it as independent backup and recovery infrastructure.

How are product passports ingested?

Depending on the system, through REST API, webhook, structured export or an agreed import format. Scope and update interval are defined during onboarding.

Is this only for battery passports?

No. DPP Backup supports batteries, textiles, electronics, chemicals, furniture and steel. Data model and scope follow the respective digital product passport.

Is DPP Backup already EU certified?

No. European requirements for DPP service providers continue to be specified. We align the infrastructure with that process and document the reviewed baseline.
